Ben Awad got the only goal of the game as Tring Athletic suffered a 1-0 defeat to Colney Heath in a blustery SSML Premier Division clash.
Athletic started the better of the two teams, kicking down the slope and with the strong wind in the same direction.
In the first minute, Taylor Collins was played in by Ollie Hogg but home keeper Tom Blackman managed to save with his legs.
Athletic won two corners in quick succession and a half chance fell to Chris Vardy which sailed past the wrong side of the post.
In the 32nd minute, Colney Heath full-back Ben Crilley found himself in space and tested Jack Hopwood who saved low down.
Just a minute later, Sam Jolliffe hit tremendous half volley from just outside of the penalty area but Blackman pulled off an equally good save.
Athletic started the second half well, and in the 66th minute they were awarded a free-kick just outside the area. Collins stepped up and his goal-bound shot was turned away for a corner by Blackman.
Both sides made substitutions, before Colney Heath scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 79th minute.
Ollie Butler was unlucky to concede a free-kick on the right side, and the ball was floated into Athletic’s area where substitute Awad headed into the goal off the underside of the bar.
Athletic pushed forward looking for an equaliser, but the home side defended well.
In the final few minutes, Colney Heath’s Andrew Hannon and Danny Payne were yellow carded for late challenges, but the hosts held on for the win.
