An entertaining evening of Easter Sunday football in the Hemel Hempstead 5-a-side Leisure Leagues included a close encounter between Norfolk & Chance and Gremio.

Norfolk found themselves with a 6-4 lead at half-time and they continued to press the Gremio defence in the second half.

Sam Bernard scored two on the night for Norfolk – one goal coming from a somewhat unusual lob of the keeper, which earned him the man of the match award.

Gremio responded well but their comeback was halted by the final whistle, the match finishing 9-7 in Norfolk’s favour.

Puyol Pants Down were looking to overturn their defeat last week as they faced formidable outfit The Fellowship.

Despite a more positive start this time around, Puyol found themselves 5-3 down at half-time.

Strong words from team captain Dan Devine inspired front man Scott Bullock to net two goals for Puyol Pants Down and this, combined with a valiant defensive display from Pat Dodge, enabled the lads to regain the lead in the match.

Nevertheless, a determined display from man of the match Pete Knightingale, who scored a hat-trick and assisted in The Fellowship’s equaliser, meant the points were shared in a very fair 6-6 draw.

Danny Roberts wore his Nice To Michu team badge with pride as he contributed to a 10-1 victory over improving Hello Boss.

Dave Amos has clearly been working on his team’s tactical play, although Hello Boss still lack some cohesion among their players and this was evident by their six-goal deficit at half-time.

They will be keen to address their defensive issues ahead of next week’s encounter with second-placed AEK.

AEK Hemel faced Championship leaders Fred West Ham on the night, in what was effectively the title decider. AEK were evidently missing three key first team stars and this undoubtedly had a significant impact on the tie.

This should not overshadow what was yet another brilliant display from Fred West, whose 9-3 win maintained their 100 per cent record in the league.

A gutsy display from front man Alex Jackson earned him another man of the match award to add to the collection.

Have You Got It were 4-2 ahead in their match against Hemel Elite on Sunday, with team player/manager Asa Foster once again finding himself on the scoresheet.

Elite regrouped well in the second half and they began to play with much more determination going forward.

Elite captain and goalkeeper, Chris Wyatt, was inspirational to his players, encouraging them to attack the Have You Got It goal, while ensuring his own net was well protected.

His efforts gained him man of the match and, along with renewed energy from his team mates, Elite were able to celebrate a long-awaited victory, beating their old rivals 8-7.
