Waterlogged pitches wiped out the entire Spartan South Midlands League programme on Saturday – leaving Premier Division title hopefuls Berkhamsted chomping at the bit.

Second-placed Berko’s clash with fourth-placed Colney Heath was one of the victims of waterlogging but the fixture has been rearranged for Tuesday, January 14 at Broadwater.

Before then, the Comrades hope to get back to action on Saturday with an away league game against Hadley that will be played at Potters Bar Town’s ground.

The suspension of Dale Sears has now been carried over to that game. Otherwise Mick Vipond should have a full squad to select from.

Elsewhere, there was some action for Berkhamsted’s reserve team on Saturday when they placed an astroturf friendly against Holmer Green Reserves.

The Comrades ran out 5-2 winners, with Jordan Aikman scoring twice and further goals coming from Che To, Tommy Twelves and Jay Caines.

Off the field, Berkhamsted are looking for a commercial manager to continue their development. Anyone interested in the position should contact the chairman Steve Davis on 07968 476314.
