Grading games took place at the weekend to sort the Leisure Leagues teams in to two divisions of eight ahead of the new season starting on Sunday.

Reigning champions Chicken Kiev were up against the skillful Jackson 5-a-side who led for the majority of the match.

Their captain Jack Rolfe was outstanding throughout although he couldn’t prevent a late comeback from Kiev to see the scores levelled at 7-7 at the final whistle.

Newboys 2 Goals 1 Cup made their title aspirations evident with a convincing 5-2 win against Average FC, who had a strong squad at their disposal for the game.

2 Goals’ Tom Baldwin scored on the night and provided several key through-balls to team-mates, earning him the man of the match award.

Butterflies FC vs Hemel Elite was an entertaining game and little separated the two sides throughout.

While Elite weren’t on top form, newcomers Butterflies FC were well organised and managed an 8-8 draw with striker Slawomir Kawka converting two fantastic strikes.

Elite regrouped for their match against The Fellowship and Dave Jeffreys, man of the match, scored with an impressive Rabona style shot which was undoubtedly goal of the night, in an unexpected 7-1 win.

The Smeagles’ encounter against Wanderers FC was a very close match, both teams intent on securing a position in the top flight for the new season.

The match finished 11-10 in The Smeagles’ favour, although had it not been for Jack Collier’s superb defensive display, the score may have favoured skillful Wanderers FC.

Gremio were pitted against league runners-up The Fellowship in their grading game, which was guaranteed to test them.

While Gremio will want to work on their finishing, they looked like a cohesive team and goalkeeper Hamid Burro was outstanding, stopping several powerful shots from The Fellowship strike force.

Jobseeker’s Allowance initially led against Puyol Pants Down by two goals, however they seemed to switch off with the advantage gained.

Puyol Pants Down applied significant pressure to gain a 6-2 victory, helped by several wonder goals from man of the match Josh Fossey.

The new season starts on Sunday and Leisure Leagues is still able to accommodate new teams who want to join.

Entry is free, although teams must register online by the deadline, 7pm on Thursday. To register a team visit www.leisureleagues.net or call regional manager Gary Connell on 07983 225566.
