Leverstock Green registered their fourth straight league win under new manager Dene Gardner as they won 3-0 at Stotfold to move up to 19th in the SSML Premier Division table.

Chad Pinching scored twice and set up the third goal for Shakir Agada as Levy continued their revival since Gardner’s arrival at Pancake Lane in November.

The first clear chance of the game fell to Leverstock in the 18th minute when Mark Shadbolt’s cross was headed down by Agada to Lee Gardner, who shot over the bar from a good position.

The home side then had a good spell and with 20 minutes on the clock a flick-on allowed Aaron Browne to get a clear run on goal, however Gavin Smith got back to put in a perfectly-timed tackle.

Soon afterwards, Scott Sinclair slid in at the far post but just failed to make contact with Dwain Stupps’ cross, and Shane Carthy shot wide after the ball had been allowed to bounce inside the Green box.

It was Leverstock who made the breakthrough just after the half-hour mark, though, as Agada got on the end of a throw-in and looked for Pinching, who beat Stotfold keeper Michael Parkin to the ball before slotting home for a 1-0 lead.

Agada could have added a second three minutes later when he received a ball from Damien Cruickshank, but Parkin did well to save with his legs.

However, from the resulting corner Prince Alozie squared across goal and Pinching met the ball with a delicate sidefoot into the corner of the net for a 2-0 lead after 36 minutes.

In the last minute of the half Parkin saved again with his legs to keep out a shot from Daniel Lake, and a defender just managed to clear the rebound before Agada could pounce on it.

Stotfold put more pressure on the Green goal early in the second half, but didn’t create any clear-cut chances.

Again it was Leverstock who made the most of their possession and Pinching almost completed a hat-trick after 51 minutes with a shot from outside the box that went just wide.

He was involved again in the third Leverstock goal after 63 minutes as he ran with the ball across the face of the penalty area and threaded a pass through to Agada, who slotted past Parkin for 3-0.

That was the end of the scoring , although Stewart King was twice denied in the closing minutes by Parkin when clean through on goal.

Leverstock will be hoping to continue their winning run when they take on Holmer Green at Pancake Lane on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
