Levy Green slip up while Comrades produce a shock

League leaders Leverstock Green let a two-goal lead slip as they dropped two points at Holmer Green.

High-flying Levy had won their first ten league games, but have picked up just one point from their last two outings.

A brace of Dan Griggs goals either side of half-time had put Green 2-0 up, but lowly Holmer – who sit second-from-bottom in the table – fought back to rescue a point.

Andy Shed gave them a lifeline after 66 minutes, before Aaron Crouch got the equaliser with 10 minutes left to play.

Green currently lead the MSSML Premier Division by four points from Royston Town who have a game in hand.

And Royston suffered a shock home defeat as Berkhamsted put their injury woes behind them to pick up a morale-boosting 4-2 victory.

After four defeats on the spin and missing a number of key players, a trip to high-flying Royston looked ominous for Mick Vipond’s Berko side – but they dug deep to take the three points.

The Comrades went 1-0 up through Matt Wardle, only for the in-form Kaan Fehmi to bag his fifth goal in three games to level before the break.

Royston then went ahead through Ricky Young, but the Comrades fought back with goals from Tyler Hatherly, Adam Balletta and Josh Chamberlain to claim the win.
