Leverstock Green were sent crashing out of the FA Vase as they delivered a disappointing performance at Bedfont Sports.

Levy were in good form going into the game, but it was Bedfont who took the lead inside five minutes as centre-forward Jordan Vidal fired in past keeper David Bailey from the edge of the area.

Adam Hallisey came close to restoring parity on two occasions, but it was Bedfont who netted again to double their lead in the 14th minute courtesy of Vidal’s second goal of the game.

The second half proceeded in a similar fashion to the first, and Bailey produced a good save to turn a shot from Gavin Bamford round the post, before Vidal was denied his hat-trick with another save on 63 minutes.

The third goal duly arrived one minute later when a free-kick was floated in from the half-way line, and Jack Watts was unmarked to send a looping header over Bailey into the net.

Levy substitute Stefan Owen-Edwards came close to reducing the deficit with a well-struck free-kick from 30 yards that cannoned off the post, and the Green man went one better soon afterwards as he curled home from another free-kick to make it 3-1.

It was Bedfont who had the last laugh, though, and Nduka Azagba struck to seal the deserved win.

It was a disappointing day for Levy, but manager Steve Benitez will be working hard to lift his side again, and is hoping to bring in more players to strengthen his squad.

At the time the Gazette went to press, Green were preparing for a league clash with Stotfold at Pancake Lane.

That begins a sequence of six consecutive home games for Levy, who currently sit in second position in the MSSML Premier Division after their opening five league games.
