Berkhamsted moved back into the top-three of the SSML Premier Division with a convincing 4-0 win at home to bottom club Holmer Green in front of a healthy seasonal crowd on Saturday.
Louis Bircham went on a good run and squared for Adiel Mannion to open the scoring midway through the first half with a well-placed shot beyond Dan Little’s reach.
Berko were dominant before the interval, with Courtney Massay and the recalled Ashley Morrissey flashing shots over the bar.
A bit more patience would have yielded more goals as the Comrades continued to find gaps behind the visitors’ defence, but they couldn’t apply the finishing touch.
Holmer Green were more effective in the second half and looked to play on the break, but in truth Berko keeper Carl Tasker only had a few crosses to catch all afternoon.
Jay Caines came off the bench and put Comrades supporters’ minds at rest when he flew down the right and picked out Morrissey who fired home the second goal at the back post.
Berko made the scoreline more convincing in the closing stages of the game, with Morrissey rounding the defence before bagging his second goal of the afternoon.
Mannion also took his tally to a brace from a Morrissey cross to make the final score 4-0.
On Saturday, Berko go to Sun Sports in a vital second versus third clash for league points.
Ed Canham will be back after suspension and James Towell should be available again, however striker BJ Christie looks to be out for six weeks with a broken jaw.
