Partnership gets the ball rolling for disabled footballers in Hertfordshire

Disability football in Hertfordshire has been boosted by the news that the county’s inclusive league has been adopted by the Herts Senior County League.

The Hertfordshire Inclusive Football League is becoming part of the HSCL structure, with a new third tier also being introduced.

Ken Headington, Herts FA adult football development officer said: “It’s fantastic news that HIFL has become part of the county league.

“It shows the progress disability football has made in recent years, and will really help make the players feel like they are part of the county’s football family.”

Ted Collie, chairman of the HSCL, said: “It’s an exciting move, and one we’ve wanted to make for a while.

“The Hertfordshire FA is very pro-active when it comes to inclusive football, and the Herts Senior County League is well placed to help attract more teams and also perhaps increase the number of venues available for inclusive football.”

The 2013/14 HIFL season runs from September-April and a disability Futsal festival is also being planned.

This season teams can be mixed, with girls being allowed to compete in the competition for the first time.
