Four goals in the space of 13 second half minutes put paid to Tring’s chances against in-form Hanwell Town on Saturday.

Tring were matching their hosts blow for blow until the 69th minute when Reon Thomas was denied by a good save, before Hanwell broke and opened the scoring.

From then on, the floodgates opened and the home team wrapped up the win with three further goals.

The first half was fairly even with little to choose between the teams until Sam Joliffe was denied from a corner by a fine stop by Hanwell keeper Charlie Fanner in added time.

The turning point of the game came when Thomas found himself through on goal. Fanner did well to take the sting out of Thomas’ shot, which allowed a defender to get back and clear the danger.

And Tring were made to pay for the missed chance as Hanwell went straight down the other end and broke the deadlock through Nicholas Tararov.

Any hopes Athletic had of a recovery were dashed five minutes later when Ricky Pither doubled his side’s lead and further goals followed in the 76th minute from Kyle Watson and in the 77th minute from Taravov to make the final score 4-0.
