The Tudors have made it through to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy after seeing off Croydon Athletic 2-0 in their first qualifying round replay.

Ross Lafayette and Dave Pearce got the goals either side of half-time to secure the win and book a clash with Brackley Town at Vauxhall Road in the next round, on Saturday November 5.

It was an impressive display from Tommy Widdrington’s side, who looked in control throughout the course of the game.

The Tudors pressed early on and were denied by two good saves from Croydon keeper Dave King, but the away side eventually took a deserved lead five minutes before half-time.

Striker Ross Lafayette was on hand to tap in from close range to give the Tudors the advantage going into the interval.

Hemel continued to dominate after the break, preventing the hosts from creating any decent goalscoring chances.

And the Tudors wrapped up the win late on as Pearce struck from the spot to seal their place in the next round.

“We threatened from minute one,” said Hemel boss Widdrington. “The players did very well up front and the whole spine of the side looked very good.

“All in all it was the best team performance I’ve seen since I’ve been here.”
