Hemel Town were beaten 2-1 by Hornchurch as manager Dean Brennan fielded an entirely different side in either half of the Tudors’ latest pre-season outing.
Hemel were 1-0 up at half-time through a Lewis Toomey penalty with 43 minutes on the clock.
However, Hornchurch were very physical on the night and came back second half to take advantage of some defensive errors to win the game.
It was another important run-out for all concerned and the result was of little concern as Hemel continue to build their fitness levels ahead of the new season.
First Half : Walker, King, Connolly, Parkes (C), Murphy, Asafu-Adjaye, Simmonds, Thorne, Brighton, Oli, Toomey
Second Half : May, Clarke, Opoku, Hawkins, May, Hutton, Talbot, Pearce, Allen, Mackey, Showum
Town’s next friendly is away at Harrow Borough on Saturday and, finally, a Watford Development side play at Vauxhall Road next Wednesday.
One final piece of news is that forward Charlie Mpi is moving to Southern Premier Division outfit Hungerford Town FC for the coming season.
A club spokesman said: “I’m sure everyone at the club would love to wish Charlie all the very best for the future and say a massive thank you for his efforts and goals that helped the club win the Southern League title last season.
“He was a very popular player and a nice bloke too.”
