BASEBALL: Hemel’s Grovehill Ballpark is set to serve up a feast of high-quality baseball action this weekend.

The winners of the Huntlock Series will be crowned on Sunday – but the competition is still wide open.

There is one round of the series left to play and the Herts Blue Dogs have a slender lead over their nearest rivals, with the Red Roosters and White Lightning one game back on them.

Black Widows are two games adrift but are still in the running thanks to a surprise 2-0 win against the leaders in an action-packed penultimate weekend of play.

White Lightning have burst back into the championship-race after solid defensive performance against the Red Roosters, with Berkhamsted’s Zack Longboy putting in a particularly impressive display.

Lightening lost out 9-4 to Blue Dogs in their next game, but bounced back with a 5-1 victory over Black Widows.

Widows then lost out to Roosters, before the latter were edged out 9-8 by the Blue Dogs in thrilling climax to the weekend’s play.

The series deciders get under way at Grovehill on Sunday, with the first game starting at 11.30am.

The rest of the games will start on the two diamonds at hourly intervals.
