CRICKET: A severely under-strength Berkhamsted II side suffered a 171-run thrashing at the hands of Parkfield and Headstone on Saturday.
Bowling first, Berko got off to a good start with Jon Ezard (4-19) helping to restrict Parkfield to 42-5, before the hosts rallied to finish on 213-8.
It was a struggle from the off for Berko in reply, with the side bowled out for just 42 runs to finish a long way off their target. Ali Wilson top-scored with 13.
It was better news for Berkhamsted III, though, as they picked up a 91-run win over Wormley II.
Berko batted first and set a total of 215 for Wormley to chase, with Daniel Angel (49) and Tom Pedrick (44) adding valuable contributions.
Berko bowlers Will Clayton (4-51) and Tom Hadden (3-33) then got to work with the ball to secure the impressive victory.
A young Berkhamsted fourth XI side, however, were beaten by seven wickets by Parkfield and Headstone III.
Berko lost the toss and were put into bat, but Charlie Mack (25) and Andy Chambers (37) helped them to a reasonable total of 129.
Parkfield responded well in reply, though, reaching the target for the loss of only three wickets.
