With five weeks of the 2015/15 Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League season gone, the three divisions are gradually taking shape.
In Division One, Crown & Sceptre I are heading the table after two emphatic 9-1 wins versus their B team and St Michaels. Marc Lyons scored a maximum in the first game, and Alan Thomas did likewise in the latter. But James Dance was the real star, with trebles in both games.
Row had Bob Cummins, Mick Chandler and Paul Jolly all in fine form to rout Flamstead A 10-0, but they came up short against Flamstead I as they lost 7-3 thanks to a treble by Angela Smith.
Once again, Adeyfield I had a Mike Boardman treble to thank for a hard fought 6-4 victory over St Michaels, while Mick Eames and Bill Higgins led the way in Crown & Sceptre’s 9-1 win against their B team.
It was Dave Gomm who steered the A team to a narrow 6-4 victory over Flamstead A with a maximum, but Flamstead responded well with a 7-3 win against Crown & Sceptre B thanks to a Brian Hudson treble.
Meanwhile in Division Two, Adeyfield A are opening up a reasonable gap following an 8-2 victory over McAlpines and a 10-0 thrashing of their B team. Les Leech and Martin Johnson hit double maximums, while Martin Ford bagged one of his own.
Northchurch I kept in touch with the leaders thanks to an 8-2 success over Adeyfield B and a 7-3 victory versus McAlpines. Simon Whale hit trebles in both matches.
St Georges I had a Jackie Channell maximum to thank for their 7-3 victory over Crown & Sceptre C and they also had a 5-5 draw with Flamstead B.
Flamstead were beaten 8-2 by Crown & Sceptre C, for whom Colin Tibbles and Geoff Walke hit trebles, and they then went down 4-2 against KLCC I despite the best efforts of Dan Roan.
In Division Three, Highfield have made a surge to the top of the table with three comfortable wins; firstly 8-2 against Adeyfield C, then 9-1 versus Northchurch B and finally 10-0 against KLCC A. Colin Parslow took the plaudits with three maximums, with Ian Roby, Mark Childs and Alan Jolly all gaining one.
Second placed St Georges A had two 8-2 victories over Norchchurch A and KLCC A. Harry Hook was the star with a double maximum, with Daniel Broner weighing in with one.
Flamstead C beat Adeyfield C thanks to a Tony Bourke hat-trick, but Adeyfield C hit back with an 8-2 win over Crown & Sceptre D thanks to a Jon Summer treble.
Northchurch A romped to a 10-0 victory over Crown & Sceptre D thanks to Bronwen Watson, Dave Walker and Frank Manfield
