Grindle delivers a golden performance at the Youth Olympics in Sydney

Following on from the success of Max Whitlock at London 2012, Dacorum could have another future Olympic gymnastics star in its midsts in the shape of Sapphire starlet Teal Grindle.

Teal travelled with the Team GB squad to Sydney, Australia, for the Youth Olympics and – despite having to recover from jet lag and adjust to the intense heat – the talented youngster won a gold medal on the beam on her way to second place overall.

Battling against elite gymnasts from countries including Australia and China, Teal was lying in fifth place overall going into the final day of competition.

And, despite knowing the pressure was on, Teal was able to defy any nerves she may have had and delivered a clean set of routines which handed her second place overall behind GB team-mate Tyesha Mattis.

If that were not enough, Teal then performed the beam routine of her life – scoring a massive 14.50 – to take the title ahead of the Chinese girls who so often dominate on that particular piece of apparatus.
