Herts ready for Twickenham final

HERTFORDSHIRE travel to Twickenham for the final of the Bill Beaumont Cup in confident mood, despite losing their final pool match at Cinderford by the narrow margin of two points.

The team and management feel that the experience of playing Lancashire in the final last year will be invaluable as they take on the same opponents at 11am on Sunday.

Hertfordshire won Division One South in fine style, scoring at least four tries in each of their three games and topping the table by two points ahead of Cornwall.

Lancashire, meanwhile, topped the North group with three wins, but not as many try bonus points as Herts.

Throughout the campaign, Hertfordshire have played attractive rugby – looking to move the ball by hand on almost every occasion.

The backs have played well as a unit and there has been some excellent finishing, while the forwards have been able to supply good ball.

There is just one change in the Herts starting line-up for Sunday, with Tring’s Tom Newton coming in at full-back in place of Richard Gregg.
