There was a mixed bag of results for Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club at the weekend.
The ladies’ second team provided the biggest cheer as they continued their drive for promotion with a 2-1 victory over Rickmansworth.
The men’s fifths won a pulsating game 5-4 against Stevenage, while the men’s firsts left it late to equalise in a 2-2 draw against a surprisingly strong Winchmore Hill team who are in the lower half of the league.
The draw gained Berko a point on title rivals Stevenage who had a surprise loss.
There were no such shocks when the men’s third and fourth teams suffered defeats against the league leaders in their divisions.
The most unexpected result saw the high-flying men’s second team lose to struggling Winchmore Hill .
The ladies’ firsts lost 2-1 to lowly West Herts meaning they are now six points from a promotion place.
