EXCITEMENT is building at Leverstock Green Cricket Club ahead of the forthcoming 2012 cricket season.
Although the 2011 season was one of mixed fortunes for Levy, one of the highlights was a Gazette Cup final appearance against Tring Park.
During the winter, there has been a great deal of planning and preparation for the new season and beyond.
Improvements to the clubhouse are in process, sponsorships and partnerships have been forged and nurtured and new playing kit for all the teams has been ordered.
On the playing front, new players have been recruited, including two overseas players – batsman/wicket keeper Alex King from Tasmania and all rounder Luke Roberts from Western Australia.
Former Herts U19s player David Coulshed captains the first X1, with Steve Murphy his vice-captain.
Former first XI Captain and club stalwart Dave Tyson, meanwhile, takes over as second team skipper with Lee Littlejohn his vice-captain.
Mike Parkes continues as third XI captain, while Mark Pearson and Brian Coulshed are captain and vice-captain of the fourth team.
After a close season programme of winter nets and early season practice, the first XI begins its season with fixtures against Apsley Guise this Saturday, and Met Police on Saturday, April 28.
The Hertfordshire League Season begins for all four Leverstock Green teams on Saturday, May 5.
