Little Hay Golf Club has just been awarded a prestigious quality award by England Golf – marking it out as an excellent place for juniors and beginners to enjoy the sport.
The club, which works with Sportspace at the Little Hay Golf Complex, was awarded the Golfmark award after demonstrating to the England Golf development team that it has a high standard of coaching and playing facilities, as well as good club organisation and strong child protection procedures.
Little Hay Golf Club president Jenny Williams said: “Golf England is working to make the game of golf more accessible to more people and Little Hay is fully committed to that aim.
“We are a friendly and welcoming club encouraging all members to enjoy their golf and the friendships which golf engenders.
“We have a thriving junior section and always welcome new juniors, both boys and girls. We can lead them through getting a handicap, playing in competitions and in matches against other clubs and some of our juniors are now on county development programmes.
“We are fortunate that our club is located on an excellent course with first rate coaching and practice facilities. “
George Reid, manager of the Little Hay Golf Complex, added: “We are delighted to have worked with the Golf Club to get this award which recognises our facilities and coaching.
“We already run a number of junior coaching programs for beginners and improvers and now that we have Golfmark we will be expanding what we do.
“People do not have to be members of the Golf Club to use Little Hay Golf Complex but once they have achieved a basic standard of golf it is simple for them to join.
“We see getting Golfmark as a springboard to helping more people to take up this exciting and challenging game.“
Little Hay will be receiving its Golfmark certificate from a representative of England Golf later in the year at a formal presentation.
