FLAUNDEN tennis sensation Katy Dunne has won her opening match at the Wimbledon Junior Championships.
The 17-year-old caused an upset on court nine as she defeated number 10 seed Chalena Scholl 6-3, 6-4.
“I’m so happy,” said Katy. “It’s my best win ever in juniors.
“I’ve had a few close ones with the top juniors but this is by far my best result.
“I feel like I’ve always had this form, but nerves quite often get the better of me.
“I was very nervy at the end but managed to get through it.
“Today is proof that I can compete against the best juniors in the world even if my ranking isn’t quite where I would like it to be at the moment.”
