DACORUM Synchronised Swimming Club enjoyed golden weekend as they celebrated the visit of the Olympic torch.

First up, the club competed in their very first combination routine team competition and, although they did not place on the podium, they put in a top performance and gained valuable experience.

There was individual success, however, as SDDC team captain Amy Silk (pictured) won the gold medal in both the figures and the solo routine events.

The following day, the club took part in an aquatic showcase event at Sportspace as part of the Olympic torch celebrations.

DSSC wowed the viewing public, along with Hemel Hempstead Swimming Club and Dacorum Diving Club (pictured in action) in a thrilling display.

BBC athletics commentator Paul Dickenson was on hand to cast his expert eye on proceedings, and brought along his own Olympic torch to the event.

Dacorum Diving Club coach Chris White said: “The feedback we got from everybody afterwards was really great.

“The whole event just fitted in with the spirit of the Olympic torch relay.”
