Sue, who came home with golds in both the senior mixed team 2000m race and the 500m race, said: “It was really exciting – we had been training for months and a lot of the competitors had been training for years.
“They announced the results in reverse order and when we found out we had got first place, we just went absolutely ballistic.
“Everyone just went wild and was hugging eachother and screaming.”
Sue has only been dragon boating for around 18 months, but more than played her part in the GB success.
She added: “It was by far and away the most succesful event for a GB team ever.”
Lisa Hayes, British Dragon Boat Association chairman said: “This success is testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of all paddlers, helms, drummers, coaches, crew managers and all those who have worked with the GB teams.
“All the medals won by individuals are shared with the people who support them in their goals.”
