The Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League has attracted a new team, with St Albans outfit St Michaels signing up for the new campaign.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Crown & Sceptre I have made a promising start to the new campaign with three wins – beating their A team 6-4, Northchurch 9-1 and their B team 10-0.

Adeyfield I have also made a winning start to the season, beating Northchurch I 8-2, Row 8-2 and Flamstead 7-3, despite Angela Smith winning all three of her games for the latter.

Crown & sceptre A won 9-1 against Flamstead I – with Ken Stonefridge and Richard Hardy taking maximums – but suffered 6-4 losses to Row and Flamstead, for whom Tony Coober won his three games.

Newly-promoted Crown & Sceptre B recorded a 6-4 win over Flamstead I and a 7-3 triumph against Adeyfield A, but they went down to 6-4 defeats to both Northchurch I and Row.

In Division Two, meanwhile, newcomers St Michaels I are setting a hot pace, having won each of their opening four matches.

Despite losing 9-1 to St Michaels, Crown & Sceptre C are in second place after beating Flamstead A 6-4 and KLCC I 7-3. New boy Leigh Hurkett bagged himself a double maximum.

Flamstead A bounced back with a thumping 10-0 thrashing of Highfield, while Darren Roan’s treble helped Flamstead B to a narrow 6-4 win over KLCC I.

McAlpines I and Adeyfield B, meanwhile, fought out a 5-5 draw.

In Division Three, St Michaels A are leading the way after winning their first three fixtures of the campaign.

They cruised to 9-1 victories over KLCC and St Georges, as well as trouncing Crown & Sceptre D 10-0.

The Crown D side also lost out to Flamstead C, while McAlpine A had a couple of comfortable victories.

They eased to a 9-1 win over St Georges before beating Flamstead C 8-2, with both Xin Jun Wang and Youguang Pan achieving double maximums.

Adeyfield C rounded things off with a solid 8-2 win over St Georges.
