HEMEL Ski Race Club member Robert Poth has ended the winter ski race season in spectacular style – taking the Overall British Male U16 ski race champion title in Meribel, France.

Robert, 14, competed in the Scottish Alpine Championships in Courchevel, prior to the Delancey British Alpine Championships in Meribel.

During the five days of intense ski racing – covering Super Giant Slalom, Giant Slalom and the technical Slalom discipline – the talented youngster brought home an impressive haul of five gold medals, two silvers and three prestigious trophies.

At the Scottish Alpine Championships, Robert won the Giant Slalom second run and the slalom race overall.

Following on from that, he travelled to the British Alpine Championships, where he won the U16 Super G Championships and was presented with the Rolls Royce Trophy.

He also won the U16 Giant Slalom Championships, for which he was presented with the Ski Council of Wales Trophy.

To top things off, Robert’s combined points for each discipline earned him the much-deserved title of U16 British Male Ski Race Champion for 2012, as well as the Ski Plan Trophy.

As a result of his excellent season, Robert has been selected again for the British children’s ski race team for the 2012-2013 season.

Robert thanked the Hemel Ski Race Club and The Snow Centre for their help and support over the course of the season, but he is still hoping to secure a financial sponsor.
