The new Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League season got under way with an emphatic win for reigning champions Crown & Sceptre.
Formerly known as Waters, Crown & Sceptre started the campaign with a crushing 10-0 win over Tring and Flamstead A, with Andy Lewry and Dave Gomm winning each of their six games.
Gary Keers and Marc Lyons also weighed in with a maximum each.
Adeyfield I, meanwhile, started their season with a 9-1 victory at Flamstead I, with Nigel Finn and John Fox bagging maximums.
They followed this up with a 5-5 draw against Crown & Sceptre A as Mike Boardman scooped a treble.
Crown & Sceptre A then replicated that score against Adeyfield A – debutante Akash Shah also taking a maximum.
He followed this up with another top score against Row in yet another 5-5 draw.
Flamstead I, meanwhile, had a comfortable 7-3 win at Tring as Angela Smith impressed with a treble.
In the only Division Two match so far, Crown & Sceptre B started their season with a straightforward 8-2 win against Flamstead B. Ian Cooper scored a maximum.
Division Three side Adeyfield B began the campaign with two wins as they saw off KLCC I 8-2 before triumphing 7-3 against Flamstead C. Bob Andrews was the star man.
Flamstead C bounced back with a hard fought 6-4 win against Adeyfield C despite a Bob Saupan maximum for the losers.
KLCC I thrashed their A team 10-0, with Rod Marshmant, Mark Yelland and Phil Hards doing the damage, while the remaining match saw Northchurch A beat Crown & Sceptre D 6-4 despite a maximum from Sceptre’s Peter Bart.
