Hemel Hempstead racing driver Michael Epps recorded his best results of the season at Silverstone last weekend in the final rounds of the Formula Renault BARC Championship.
With the races being shown live on ITV4, there was no better time for Michael to prove his ability, and he pulled out all the stops to end the season on a high.
Qualifying in third place for the first race of the weekend – round 13 overall – Epps battled hard to eventually claim fourth place.
This gave the 20-year-old ace his best result by quite a margin, just missing out on a podium. “We need about a tenth a lap to be able to push the guys ahead and challenge for a win, but I’m happy as can be at the moment,” he said after the race.
“It’s so great to finally get a decent result for myself and a team so new to Renault.”
Round 14 was held on Sunday afternoon and, starting 13th, Epps got another good start, passing two cars on the first lap.
In an incident-filled race, Epps continued to weave his way through the field, eventually coming home in seventh place to give himself a finishing position of 13th in the championship overall.
The Anytime Fitness-backed speedster said: “It’s been a really, really tough year, and probably one of the most competitive fields to be against, too.
“We’ve progressed with the team through the year and finally made it to the front for the big one. Just in time I guess!”
“Now to work towards next season – the winter is going to be long, that’s for sure!”
