Table topping Sceptre are closing in on the league Crown

Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League Division One leaders Crown & Sceptre I enjoyed three convincing wins as they strengthened their position at the top of the table.

They beat Northchurch I 9-1, Crown & Sceptre B 9-1, and then recorded a 7-3 victory over Row. Alan Thomas and Andy Lewry had double maximums with Gary Keers also gaining a treble.

Second-placed Adeyfield I also had three victories over Flamstead I 10-0, Crown & Sceptre A 8-2 and 7-3 versus Row. Mark Boardman had double maximums.

Crown & Sceptre A had back-to-back 9-1 victories over Flamstead I and Northchurch, with Richard Hardy and Alan Jones bagging two trebles.

Row and Adeyfield A had a hard fought 5-5 draw with Paul Jolly hitting a hat-trick. Graham Perkins and Simon Whale led the way for Northchurch in 7-3 win over Crown & Sceptre B.

In Division Two, St Michaels I wrapped up the title with consummate ease with two 10-0 wins over Highfield and Adeyfield B, and a 9-1 win over Flamstead A. Vadym Kreus hit triple maximums.

Second-placed McAlpines eased past Crown & Sceptre C 8-2 thanks to Alex Hamilton and Trevor Leverno, while Jack Reyland and John Stock led the way in 7-3 victory over Highfield.

KLCC I won 6-4 against Crown C 6-4, despite the efforts of Leigh Hurkett, but then lost 6-4 to Adeyfield B who had a Gerry Evens maximum to thank.

In Division Three, St Michaels A followed their first team by clinching the title with a 7-3 win over McAlpines A and a 10-0 success against Northchurch A. They also had a hard fought 5-5 draw with St Georges, for whom Jackie Channell bagged a maximum. In the victories, Phil Crudginton managed two maximums while Dave Amerylk hit a treble.

Second-placed McAlpines A had an 8-2 success over Flamstead C with maximums for Xinjun Wang and Chris Pedley, as well as a narrow 6-4 win against Adeyfield C, despite a hat-trick by Mariusz Puczynski for the losers.

Adeyfield then managed a 6-4 win over St Georges, while Flamstead C won comfortably against KLCC A 8-2 with Dan Petherby doing the damage.

KLCC A bounced back to beat Crown & Sceptre D 8-2, with Rod Marshment and Peter Watts gaining trebles, before drawing 5-5 with Northchurch A.

Northchurch then beat Crown D 9-1 thanks to Bronwen Watson and Frank Manfield. Crown also lost 8-2 to St Georges who had Mike Brozicevic and Chris Ward bagging maximums.
