TRING School’s tennis team were unfortunate to miss out on a place in the final of a national competition.
Tring won two of their three group games at the Aegon Team Tennis National Finals in Bolton, and finished second in their group.
They lost their first match 8-4 to Peter Symonds College, before beating Wilmslow High School and Queen Elizabeth School Bournemouth.
The side - Jack Mordey, Max Baiden, Owen Williams and Richard Beeney - were then reliant on either Wilmslow or Queen Elizabeth defeating Peter Symonds in order to have any chance of progressing to the final.
This did not happen, though, and Tring were eliminated from the event while Peter Symonds went on to win the competition.
Tring teacher David Adams said: “The boys played very well and were a credit to the school.”
The side reached the national finals after a successful qualifying campaign in their first year in the competition.
They won their group by beating St Albans School and Alyesbury Grammar School and went on to defeat University College School and Dulwich College.
