Despite a brave performance and half-time lead, TringRugby failed to secure any points from Saturday’s clash with top of the table Dorking.
Two first half tries – one each for Nathan Lambden and Zak Michalski – and eight points from the boot of Tom Newton gave Tring an 18-10 lead at the interval.
A bright start to the second half saw Michalski cross the line for a second time, and Newton secured the extras to bring the score to 25-13 after 56 minutes.
These turned out to be Tring’s last points of the day, however, and three unanswered tries from Dorking left the Cow Lane side agonisingly short of a bonus point at 25-33.
Dorking secured their eighth four-try bonus point win of the season to remain top of the table with Tring dropping to 12th.
Next week sees Tring travel to Old Elthamians before their next home fixture against Thurrock on November 23.
