Bovingdon Cricket Club reflected on a terrific year on and off the field as they celebrated a triumphant campaign at their 2015 AGM.
The club’s Saturday league team achieved a third consecutive promotion – which was in fact a double promotion courtesy of a dramatic last day victory – making it four promotions in three years.
Club chairman Kerry Underwood said: “Thank you to everyone who took part, and especially to James Hazelton and Luke Stickland, the captain and vice-captain.
“This promotion is a mark of how the club is progressing and building on its achievements season by season.”
The Sunday team, meanwhile, achieved good results and all matches were enjoyable, being played in an excellent spirit by both sides.
Underwood continued: “The big improvement this season is that we were often having to select a Sunday team and leave people out. We have not been in that position for several years.
“So again huge thanks to Sean Gatehouse for captaining the team and working so hard to get a team out each Sunday. As before it has been my privilege to be Sean’s vice-captain.”
The T20 side also performed well again and reached the regional final – losing to Bourne End on a challenging track – while the club was able to field three colts sides thanks to the efforts of Mike Buttleman, Mark Carine, Tony Shand, Sean Gatehouse, Nick Baxter and Graham Weston.
