Valuable win for the Tring ladies’ seconds

HOCKEY: IT was a good week for the Tring ladies’ second XI as they picked up a comfortable 4-0 win over Luton Town in their bottom of the table clash.

Tring were dominant from the off and took a deserved early lead as Emma Boddington set up Katie Haines to open the scoring.

And it did not take long for Tring to add a second goal, with Ella Whitehead finding the net from a Mia Cutting cut-back.

Boddington added a third for Tring after half-time, and the scoring was completed by Whitehead as she, too, completed a brace.

It was not such good news for the ladies’ thirds, however, as they went down 2-0 to an experienced Welwyn Garden City side.

Tring managed to hold Welwyn off until half-time thanks to strong defending by Heather Thomas and Rachel Munro, although the Welwyn goal was rarely threatened.

After half-time, Welwyn scored twice in quick succession, and despite some sustained pressure on the visitors’ goal, Tring could not force a breakthrough.

The men’s seconds, meanwhile, picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Hampstead.

After some good early defending from George Cooper and Ed Lewis, Loui Harris fed Cooper to slot home the winner.

And the Super Vets were also on top form, crushing St Albans 6-1.

Charles Leach scored a fine first half hat-trick, and Mike Buckley (2) and Steve Warr completed the rout.
