Dacorum & Tring AC star sprinter Dominic Ashwell finished on the podium in his first ever race in an England vest at the Welsh International Indoor meeting hosted by Welsh Athletics at the National Indoor Athletics Stadium in Cardiff.
Selected to represent England after his second-placed finish in the National Indoor Championships held last weekend in Sheffield, Dom – who is still only 15 – ran 6.88s in the U20 England v Wales 60m.
That saw him finish third behind winner Rechmial Millar (6.78s PB), who is a full year older than Dom, and Chris Stone (6.79s), who is nearly four years older.
Proud coach Gavin Town said: “Dom has done extremely well competing in his first international, showing great composure and maturity throughout the day.
“Finishing third exceeded all expectations and is an unbelievable achievement going into the outdoor season.”
