Big screen fun for the kids this summer

Tinkerbell - The Rex

BERKHAMSTED’S fabulous art deco cinema The Rex has lined-up some terrific kid’s shows for June.

This Saturday there’s Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue - Tinkerbell and her friends are visiting the mainland when they meet a little girl called Lizzie, and Tinkerbell is captured.

It’s a show that’s guaranteed to delight all little girls with a penchant for pink.

Next Saturday Gnomeo and Juliet - an animated family film based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet - is on offer. Produced by new daddy David Furnish with a schmaltzy soundtrack from Elton John the youngsters, and plenty of oldies too, will love it.

And on June 18 its the turn of a film more usually associated with Christmas as the original The Wizard of Oz is cleaned up for the big screen.

It scared the hell out of me as a child but I also watched it without fail every year - like all my mates. Kick off the tradition with your children.
