Let battle commence for a slot at Berkofest

Up and coming local bands will lock horns on Saturday evening to compete for a prized slot at a September music festival.

The BerkoFest Battle of the Bands event at the Centenary Theatre in Berkhamsted will see hometown outfits Comrade Cycle, The Man’s Machine, Parka Club and Remedy, along with Hemel Hempstead’s Sink The Ship and Just Like Eve perform.

Also on the bill will be Order Of The Planets from Kings Langley, Atlantic Shore from Chesham, and Swift As He from Chorleywood– all battling it out for a slot on the Berkofest running order.

Judges for the night are the musician, songwriter and producer Andrew McCrorie-Shand, Jane Clucas – who comperes Berkhamsted’s monthly acoustic night The Greene Note – Counterpart musician Simon Messenger and Gazette news editor Victoria West.

Acoustic guitar virtuoso Shane Lamont, also known as The Warrior of Light, will compere the evening and entertain the audience while the judges make their final decision.

The evening begins at 6.30pm. Doors open at 5.30pm and the competition is scheduled to end at around 10pm.

Tickets cost £8 for over 18s and £5 for those aged 12 to 18, are available from Scoops and The Kings Arms, both in Berkhamsted High Street.

Under 12s get in free.

Subject to availability tickets will also be for sale on the door.

There will be a licensed bar.
