Mamma mia let’s belt out Rule Britannia!

TWO fabulous open-air concerts kick off Tring’s summer festival next weekend.

On Friday June 3 the audience can look forward to a proper flag-waving event with the Great British Proms - the English National Orchestra led by conductor Jae Alexander perform works by many of the world’s greatest composers.

Welsh tenor Wynne Evans - from the Go Compare adverts - will be singing alongside soprano Sarah Ryan who, having had a soft spot for ‘friendly’ Tring for years recently moved just up the road to Wigginton.

She said: “It’s going to be a really lovely event - a beautiful, classical orchestral concert with lots of very well-known rousing pieces to join in with.

“Jae Alexander is a wonderfully exuberant conductor and Wynne’s such a huge personality, and we’ve worked together for years so we’re a well-practised team.”

On Saturday June 4 the evening starts with the four winners of the local youth band competition Play Live, followed by support from Berkhamsted band Planet Funk before stars from the West End perform The Music of Abba with a full orchestra.
