PICTURE SLIDESHOW: Hundreds enjoy outdoor evening of opera, comedy, pop and fun

Hordes of people gathered in the grounds of Berkhamsted Cricket Club on Sunday for an evening of opera, comedy, pop, food, drink and fun.

The facility was playing host to the third Pitch Perfect concert – which returned this year after a brief hiatus in 2013, having been launched in 2011.

Speaking after the event, organiser Tim Buckley praised all of the people who had taken part on stage.

He said: “The Patriot Girls were magnificent with a range of wonderful songs from across the ages ranging from Bond to The Sound of Music and an emotional medley of First World War songs.

“Whilst the large crowd of nearly 700 dodged the light shower of rain, the Haresfoot beer tent did wonderful business and Adrian Scarborough had the crowd in fits of laughter with a superb poem documenting his excitement at returning to Berkhamsted after a night in London.

“Pitch Perfect regulars Phillip Brown and Kathryn Jenkin performed a range of numbers and Sarah Munroe from Berkhamsted School wowed the audience with a few of her own compositions.

“A wonderful evening crowned by some warm late evening sunshine that saw the crowd dancing in the aisles.

“A retiring collection in aid of The Children’s Society was taken by Berkhamsted Lions.”
