Katie Brown Quintet at Berkhamsted Jazz, December 2013

The Katie Brown Quintet takes to the stage for the final Berkhamsted Jazz Club session of the year on Saturday night.

Doors open at 7.15pm at Berkhamsted Civic Centre with the music scheduled to start at 8pm.

Katie is an award-winning player who won a scholarship to study jazz for a year in America, and has been working as a freelance musician since returning to the UK.

For the past 15 years she has held the post of sax teacher and jazz educator at London’s St. Paul’s School where she leads the school big band and various jazz ensembles.

She recorded her first album last year and has been touring with her group to promote the album over the past 12 months.

Also on the stand will be trombone ace Robbie Harvey, who has also won a string of awards for his playing, and can regularly be found performing at Ronnie Scott’s.

Pianist Leon Greening’s hard swinging style has made him a favourite on the UK jazz circuit for more than a decade but 2012 saw him lead a tour as bandleader for the first time as he launched his debut CD Cookin’ in Brooklyn.

Bass player Ryan Trebilock and drummer Steve Brown complete the ensemble.

Tickets are £10 for members and Dacorum Card holders and £13 for visitors and guests.

Tickets are usually available on the door, but you can also book in advance – full details can be found online at
