Familiar tale is inspiration for summer show

If you’ve never heard of the musical She Loves Me, you’ll almost certainly know the story.

Based on an original work by the Hungarian playwright Miklos Laszlo, it has been used as the source for a string of movies including The Shop Around The Corner and more recently the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan vehicle You’ve Got Mail.

Now Tring Festival Company is gearing up for its own take on the familiar tale next summer, and kicking things off with a workshop session on Sunday afternoon, from 4pm to 6pm.

Auditions for key roles will follow on Saturday, January 20.

The company’s Eileen Reece said: “All newcomers very welcome – we are not a closed shop!

“It won’t be just the usual sing through, you’ll be up acting and learning from the word go.

“We will explore the music and characters through one or two of the songs, and by the end of the day you’ll be singing, moving and – we hope – planning your audition!”

The bar will be open afterwards so there will be time to chat and ask questions.

Eileen added: “Come along with clothing and footwear that allows you to relax and move freely and discover this wonderful show which is as bright as a summer day!”
