Rehearsals twice a week since the turn of the year have helped the cast of Berkhamsted Youth Theatre’s latest production prepare for curtain up tomorrow.

Nearly 40 cast members, aged from nine to 18, are involved in the Court Theatre production, developed by the Young Vic and based on seven familiar fairy stories by the famous brothers Grimm, including Rumplestiltskin, Clever Hans and Snow White.

Producer Anne-Marie Horton said: “Because these tales are timeless we present them in a variety of flavours in terms of both costume and style.

“During workshop-style rehearsals the cast has had the opportunity to devise much of the action, exploring acrobatic physical movement including a human wave of porridge across the performance area!”

Musical director Judith Sheridan also invited the cast to bring in any musical instrument they might play, however unusual, and incorporated them all into her original music and songs for the piece, both as sound effects and as accompaniment.

More Grimm Tales opens tomorrow, Thursday and runs until Saturday with performances at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday afternoon. Tickets are £10 or £8, available online from www.courttheatre.co.uk, 07543 560478 or from Beechwood Fine Foods in Tring or Berkhamsted Imaging in Berkhamsted High Street.
