Critics have been queuing up to batter recent film release Run For Your Wife, with general agreement that it ranks among the worst British comedies of all time.
But that’s not the fault of evergreen farce specialist Ray Cooney, who wrote the original hit play on which the misfiring movie is based.
And the Bovingdon Players will be presenting another of the master of manic mirth’s works next week to show why they are so popular with theatre audiences.
Out of Order won an Olivier Award as best new comedy back in 1991 and went on a lengthy West End run, and for the Players continues the comedy theme set by their last hit production,Calendar Girls.:
All the classic farce ingredients will be present and correct in a story about a misbehaving government minister and the mishaps he encounters when he tries to set up an assignation at a London hotel.
Curtain up is at 7.45pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 21 to 23 at Bovingdon Memorial Hall.
Tickets are £9 each, with concessions available on Thursday (£7) and Saturday (£8). Book online at ww.bovingdonplayers.com or call 07905 512258.
